The LIP Council is made up of community members from a variety of sectors relevant to the immigration experience, whose backgrounds make them experts in immigration issues. The Council steers the direction of the LIP’s initiatives; manages the Sector Working Groups; collects, produces and interprets research and; develops recommendations.

Eventually, the Council will collect all of the work produced by the Sector Working Groups and use it to develop a strategic plan that will help Edmonton become a more welcoming and inclusive community. The work of the Council, in tandem with the Sector Working Groups, will identify and eliminate gaps that exist in the immigrant and settlement experience, smooth the transition for immigrants, and strengthen our community.
